INDIA LOSE TO NZ

The Indian Cricket team lost the first test match against New Zealand at Auckland by 40 runs. It was their 5th defeat on the tour in 6 matches.

At one point of time, MS Dhoni’s boys were looking good to rewrite the history as they had crossed the 200 mark without losing too many wickets chasing a target of 407. But, once the Kiwis got the new ball in their hands, things turned around totally. India lost wickets one after another and got dismissed for a little more than 360 to get down by 0-1 in the series.

However, this is a very young Indian team which hasn’t played that much red ball cricket overseas, so, they don’t deserve criticism for this. In fact, they should be praised for the way they came back firing with the ball after getting trailed by 330 odd runs in the first innings.

The fast bowlers hit perfect areas on the third day and bundled the Kiwis out for 105 to make sure that his team didn’t get an impossible total to hunt down.

The bowler who took the most no. of wickets for India during the match was Ishant Sharma. He got 6 in the first innings, while, 3 in the second and probably saved his test match career by doing that. He was under the scanner coming on this tour and after failing in the limited overs matches, there was huge pressure on him to perform in the longest format.

Mohammad Shami delivered too in the second innings for India. He was the one who rattled the hosts with the new ball and then, the other bowlers cashed in. He grabbed a total of 4 wickets in the match which was a decent effort.
