Rahul Dravid reckons the main reason behind the success of the Rajasthan Royals over the last two seasons is the fact that the team has no egos.

According to Dravid, in the changing room of the Royals, every player is treated the same way, whether he is an international superstar or a young Indian player coming through the ranks.

The Royals squad actually don’t have that many big names at all. You leave out one or two guys, the likes of Shane Watson and Smith and there is no stardom.

So, it’s been slightly easy for Dravid and co. to create that sort of light atmosphere in the camp.

Sometimes, what happens is that if there are too many stars in the squad, they bring their egos with them. They want to be given special treatment and that creates a tough situation for the team management.

In such situations, the team don’t manage to gel either and that affects the performances.

Cricket is a team game. It does not matter if a certain individual is going well or not. If the team is winning, all is good and for a team to win consistently, it’s important that the atmosphere in the camp is good.

And, that’s why; we have seen Royals being so consistent in the recent times. They have got such a good spirit among themselves.

Dravid himself has been responsible for making the Royals’ changing room such a happy place to be in.

He has performed the mentoring role magnificently well, grooming the young players under his guidance and giving them the chance when they deserve one and also, making sure they don’t get carried away. He needs to be praised, the Wall.

Dravid is being considered for the India coaching role as well at the moment.
