Most of those veterans are probably quicker in the field than most of India’s current fielders…

  2. Flagfalls says:

Well said! This is test at its best. Induce the batsman to play a bad shot. T20 fans cannot appreciate strategy and planning on the part of the bowler to get a batsman out.

The Poms knew they weren’t going to get this man out by out-witting him with spinners of the rank of Ashley Giles and I guess they’d no other option but to stick to a negative line. Tendulkar did manage to hold his patience for a considerable length of time though- he’d pad or either offer his butts to all the rubbish that was on offer.

  4. cricmahanty says:

It’d have been nice if, in the video, you’d also included how Giles had actually set the little man up prior to his dismissal. A good and a rare upload, nevertheless. It remains a wild-shot guess as to whether Viru coming down charging at Giles had anything to do with SRT’s patience running out but jeez this was an interesting phase of play for all the while it lasted. Giles and Nasser, in particular were given some stick from all quarters for this negative tendency of theirs.

Hey Rob, Great Upload there. Can you upload the full innings and other good ones from the rest of the series.

  6. shutuprafa says:

    a pom just came

  7. PowerU235 says:

Does that mean Ashley Giles is better than Warne because Sachin has always bashed him down the ground but this fellow got the master out.

  8. Mallu Nair says:

yeah. clearly remember Greenidge’s 100 in the final, also remember Vengsarkar’s whirlwind 100, Srikkanth’s blazing knocks, Clive Rice :), Barry and Vivian Richards…pity they don’t have such tournaments now

  9. Dess D says:

IT was fun…I remember seeing John emburey, gordon greendige etc..etc…will be pretty interesting and definitely *** RARE **** upload 🙂

  10. iceqube3012 says:

He was quite fed up with Giles’ negative bowling. It was a ploy laid by hussain and giles.

  11. shutuprafa says:

as an Indian fan…totally agree. bring back the dust bowls and the rank turners

  12. shutuprafa says:

ONLY TIME…that’s pretty classy for a guy who actually uses his feet against spinners (AHEM…certain English players)

  13. Mallu Nair says:

yeah I do :), not sure if I’d be able to appreciate it now, but remember enjoying the series to the hilt when I was a kid..

  14. bartonez123 says:

Such a bad shot. And a terrible bowler to boot.

  15. HeartfeltDawn says:

Better to bowl a negative line than to keep producing negative pitches like India do.

  16. MitchellJohnson25 says:

So many 90’s! But I came here to watch Anil Kumble.

  17. robelinda2 says:

LOL, i do actually, cant believe ANYONE would want to see that.

  18. mrbollocks1979 says:

    Ugly, ugly shot.

  19. Mallu Nair says:

Rob, do you have the footage from veterans’ world cup held in the sub continent during 95-96?

  20. altair28389 says:

Really? Thats surprising… somehow felt he got out way more to him…
Still tendulkar gets out to strange bowlers… i think there have been a dozen occasions where tendulkar’s wicket was a bowler’s maiden wicket..cronje, siddle, panesar, mckay… even shit bowlers like ruwan kalpage and ujesh ranchod … a compilation of those would be an awesome upload 😀

  21. Adeeis says:

rob, do you have some wickets of Shoaib Akhtar from 2002 test series vs WI and Zim.
I havent seen akhtar’s wickets from these two test series anywhere.
It would be great if you have the clips. I remember a pumped up akhtar getting grant flower bowled in 2002 test series.

  22. Adeeis says:

liked the nasser hussain’s strategy of leg side bowling, really frustrated tendulkar.

  23. MrCains820 says:

This was the Wheelie Bin’s version of leg theory.
